CPRE unveils new look and feel for centenary year of celebration

11th December 2025

As CPRE prepares to mark its centenary, the charity is unveiling a refreshed brand identity and a redesigned website to support the celebrations.

The updates feature a special gold centenary logo, a modernised colour palette and a new-look online presence.

The centenary year is set to be a year of celebrating the charity’s legacy, demonstrating why countryside protection is needed more than ever, and what we’re doing to protect and regenerate the countryside for years to come.

Speaking of the new look-and-feel, Sam Butler, head of communications at CPRE, said:

‘We’re excited to launch CPRE’s evolved identity as we prepare to celebrate 100 years of standing up for the countryside.

‘We have a proud 100-year long history, but it’s important for us to adapt to the changing environment around us, while remaining grounded in our founding purpose.

‘We invite supporters to take a look around our new-look website, and to watch this space as we announce a year of not just celebration, but action.’

About CPRE

Founded on 7th December 1926 as the Council for the Preservation of Rural England, CPRE began with Patrick Abercrombie serving as honorary secretary. The organisation quickly established itself as a leading voice for countryside protection.

CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire

The Peak District and South Yorkshire branch of CPRE traces its roots back to May 1924, when Ethel Haythornthwaite created the Sheffield Association for the Protection of Rural Scenery, later known as the Sheffield Association for the Protection of Local Countryside. By 1927, this group had become the local branch of CPRE, continuing its mission to protect rural landscapes.

In 2024, we proudly marked 100 years of caring for the countryside, honouring the extraordinary legacy of Ethel and Gerald Haythornthwaite whilst reflecting on the charity’s achievements over the last century.
