Stories from the Archive: Ethel Haythornthwaite her legacy

Ethel MB Ward - aged 21

This is a talk by Jean Smart about the life and work of pioneering countryside campaigner Ethel Haythornthwaite, who founded the Sheffield Association for the Protection of Rural Scenery in 1924. This became what is now CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire.

The talk was recorded over video conferencing software in September 202 for Heritage Open Days. It has been produced by CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire as part of their archive project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
